✈️ Is It Okay to Fly? Reconciling Eco Values with the Trip of a Lifetime

At Source Holidays, we’ve always cared about our impact.

Not just the footprints we leave on trails - but the bigger ones too.

How we travel. What we consume. What we choose to keep offering.

Which is why we stopped running our popular family ski camp.

Twenty-one families - nearly 90 people - joined us every year during the busiest ski holiday week for a magical combination of yoga, circus and skiing.

It was fun.

It was meaningful.

It was full of joy and connection.

But… something felt off.

That final year, it was 21 degrees in February, and we watched the glaciers melting before our eyes.

It became impossible to ignore the contradiction.

So we made the hard choice to stop - because sometimes walking in integrity means saying no to even the most beloved things.

And now we’re here again.

Sitting with another big question:

Is it okay to fly… if the destination is Patagonia?

If it’s a once-in-a-lifetime family experience that could change the way we live and love forever?

🌎 The Heartbeat of Patagonia

Patagonia

We’ve been invited to co-create something special in remote, wild Patagonia -

not a resort holiday, but a soulful, slow, regenerative family journey.

Imagine:

Wild horses galloping across open plains

Deep forest trails and mountain silences

Campfires beneath constellations you’ve never seen.

Indigenous wisdom, slow rhythms, real awe

It’s the kind of trip that lives inside you long after it ends - an experience that rewires your relationship to nature, family, and self.

But to get there?

You have to fly.

🛫 What Kind of Eco Company Do We Want to Be?

The truth is: many of our guests already fly.

To join us in the Alps, some take the train, some drive - and yes, some fly.

But they have a choice.

That’s what felt different about the ski trip.

What felt different about the ski trip was the scale - so many people, all travelling on the busiest ski week of the year, funnelling into lifts, resorts, and artificial snow.

Even though it was full of joy and magic, the collective impact was just too high.

Patagonia, while far, is slow, wild, and sacred.

It isn’t part of a consumption-driven machine.

It’s not entertainment - it’s an invitation.

And that’s the difference we’re sitting with.

🌱 Not No-Impact. But High-Return.

So can we call ourselves eco-conscious and still invite families to fly halfway around the world?

Maybe not in the strictest sense.

But maybe eco-consciousness isn’t about perfection.

Maybe it’s about intentionality. Trade-offs. Being honest with ourselves and each other.

We’re not selling a packaged tour.

We’re offering a rare chance to:

  • Reconnect with the Earth in a way that transforms your family’s worldview

  • Choose one big journey instead of many small ones

  • Invest in experience over consumption

  • Support local, community-led travel and land regeneration projects

We’ll do it differently. With care. With reciprocity. With soul. And if it doesn’t feel right - we’ll be the first to step back again.

💬 This Is a Conversation

We’re not pretending we have the perfect answer.

We’re asking the question out loud - because it’s the kind of question a responsible travel company should be asking.

So we’re listening.

To our hearts, to the land, to our guests. To you.

We’ll post more details and dates soon.

📩 If Patagonia is calling you, and you want to be the first to hear about it, just email us at: info@sourceholidays.com

Let’s keep walking this line - with honesty, humility, and hope.

Together.
