WHAT TO EXPECT
It's really hard to find trips that work for all the family, especially when you have teenagers who want their independence and prefer social media to hanging out with their family! The Teenager trip is designed specifically for families with 11+ year olds. We also offer the the Hybrid trip, with a few tweaks, for families with children from 5 to 21! This trip is a great value and all inclusive. They include Lake Swimming, White Water Rafting, Canyonning (abseiling in waterfalls) and a 3 day, and 2 night hut to hut (mountain refuge) trip. On the Hybrid Trip we only spend 1 night in the high mountains. It is physically and mentally challenging but nothing that most people are not be able to manage! Everything is optional. We find that nearly 98% of guests choose to participate in all of the activities. Our goal for the Teen Trip is for hoodies to come down... apathy to turn into vitality; disinterest to become connection! This trip is about taking teenagers out of their comfort zone in a safe and supportive space and touching their spirits with the awe of nature, the beauty of simplicity... and showing them how capable they are! The Hybrid trip is similar but caters for all ages. These Adventure holidays enable the whole family to re-SOURCE, re-WILD and re-CONNECT, together.
WHO IS IT FOR
We welcome all families; trad, single parent, same sex, grandparents, blended, international.. all are welcome! The Teen trip is for families with children of 11 + years. The Hybrid trip is for families with children of 5+. La Source Holidays attracts a wonderful and interesting crowd. Many lifelong friends are made and families often come back year after year. There is a magical bond created by supporting each other to rappel down a waterfall, to challenge each other to dip in a glacial natural spa and to camp out together in a rustic high mountain hut.
ACCOMMODATION
We stay in a lovely newly built Centre de Vacances, or Outdoor Centre in Samoens with beautiful views. Each family shares their own en suite dorm room. There is a large communal area and everyone eats together in the Dining Room Chalet. Check out the photos of the Outdoor Centre below. 2 nights will be spent in Refuges, or catered High Huts in the mountains. It's a beautiful 5 minute walk to the Old Savoyard Barn where we eat our breakfast and dinners. The food is abundant and healthy and vegetarian or vegan on request. If you are vegan bring a few snacks! At breakfast we will make up our picnics. The two nights that we spend at the refuge are catered by the Refuge team.
THE FOOD
The Outdoor Centre has fantastic and bountiful food to suit all tastes. Breakfast is served from 8am. The Picnic station is laid out at breakfast and you pack your own picnic. Dinner is served at 7.30pm. Dietary requirements can be catered for. The dining room is a stunning 5 minutes walk from the accommodation building.
TRAVEL: HOW TO GET TO SAMOENS
TRAIN If you are in range, we encourage you to take the train to Cluses 74. We offer free local transport for the  first 8 guests who travel by train. From the UK, you would get an early Eurostar to Gare du Nord, get an huber to Gare du Lyon, and get the train to Cluses for around 3pm. Many guests choose to spend Friday night in Paris. If you want to take the train and hire a car, we recommend you get the train to Bourg en Bresse (a 2 hour drive to Samoens) or Geneva... Check out the rental car offers before you book. We recommend booking.com. DRIVING Driving is the next best option, again if you are in range! Samoens is 1 hour East of Geneva. It's a 10 hour drive from Southern England. Budget around £450 return for the Eurotunnel, tolls and fuel. The Ferry is a little less expensive. Our favourite place to stay en route is the spa motel The Val Moret. Rooms are around €100 for 3 or 4 people and the Spa and Dinners are superb! PLANE The nearest airport is Geneva. Please rent a car from the Swiss side of the airport as it is more straight forward. Samoens is a 1 hour drive from Geneva Airport. We recommend Booking.com for car hires.
